President Trump,

As you are aware the Tibetan issue enjoys bipartisan support in the United States and the American public have great reverence for His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

We would therefore like you to reflect this and to raise Tibet issue during your visit to China in November 2017. You are requested to raise the following points with China, which are the main components of the Tibet Policy Act 2002, the principal legislation guiding US policy towards Tibet.

1. Human rights violation in Tibet.

Tibet is under severe political repression, economic marginalization, religious persecution and environmental destruction. Due to which 150 Tibetans have self immolated to protest the Chinese communist regime. I Urge you to sensitize the Chinese government to address the aspiration of Tibetans people.

2. Resumption of dialogue with representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

Dialogue between the Envoys of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the People’s Republic of China to resolve the issue of Tibet is stalled since 2010. I request you to encourage China to resume substantive dialogue with His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

3. Visit of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to Tibet.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama has, in many occasions expressed his wish to visit Tibet and mainland China. Tibetans inside Tibet are dying to see their spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama once in their lifetime. So far there is no response from the Chinese government. I request you to urge the Chinese government to arrange for the visit.
