Over 100 Tibetan students from the US and Canada participated in the Tibetan Story reading competition which was jointly organized for the first time by The Tibet Fund and Office of Tibet, Washington DC in coordination with Tibetan Associations for the young Tibetan children residing in North America.
Each of the ten winners of the competition will receive $100 cash prize and the two recommender organization Tibetan American Foundation Minnesota and Tibetan American Community of Connecticut, which had more than one participant in the top 10, will receive $1,000.
This summer of 2017, Summer Tibetan Language and Cultural camp for youths are also being organized in 17 different locations in the US and Canada by the Tibet Fund and Office of Tibet in coordination with respective Tibetan Associations. One of Such Summer camp which is organized in Drikung Dharma Surya Center, Washington DC concludes today and Representative Penpa Tsering attended the concluding function and commended the concerted effort made by all the concerned.
These initiatives are carried out in a bid to preserve the rich Tibetan culture, language and religion and pass it down to the younger generation.
