Workshop on Secular Ethics and Youth Leadership in partnership with Emory University.

Office of Tibet Washington DC: Tibetan Community Development Fund (TCDF), Washington DC is pleased to organize ‘Workshop on Secular Ethics and Youth Leadership’ ( SEYL) in partnership with Emory University, for Young Tibetans who are university students and young professionals living in North America.

The workshop will be held from August 16-19, 2018 at Karma Triyana Dharmachakra (KTD) 335 Meads Mountain Rd, Woodstock, NY 12498. Gyalwang Karmapa Rinpoche has very kindly extended the use of TDK facility at Woodstock NY. The Dalai Lama Trust has very kindly sponsored the event

The workshop aims to instill in our youth who are our future, a sense of kindness, and compassion, positive attributes and human values, which are critical to nurturing a loving and peaceful humanity. Furthermore, it will be purely, secular in nature, as His Holiness sees it and along with it, a sense of global leadership and Tibetan identity will be infused.

Although no definite number of college going Tibetan students are available, it is estimated that at least, 500-600 students would be studying in different colleges/universities and Institutes in North America. During the course of his visit to different countries in the west, His Holiness the Dalai Lama has found that “the modern education lacks in inculcating human values to our children. There is too much emphasis on the development of mind and too little on development of heart”. This is one of the main reasons for proliferation of violence and social injustice etc in the world.

Accommodation and food is provided free for the participants during the workshop. Interested university students and young professional may apply at otdcoutreach@tibet.net

The last date for application is July 25, 2018
