Representative Namgyal Choedup Meets the US Ambassador for International Religious Freedom Rashad Hussain

Washington DC: Representative Namgyal Choedup and Secretary Tashi Dhondup met the US Ambassador-at-Large for International Religious Freedom Rashad Hussain and staffer Alyx Hoge on  February 15, 2022.  Representative Choedup greeted Ambassador Hussain and staffer Alyx Hoge and briefed about the current CTA administration’s firm commitment to the Middle Way Policy to resolve the Sino-Tibet issue and the deteriorating situation inside Tibet due to Beijing’s relentless attacks on Tibetan identity including Tibetan language and religious expression. He further briefed the Ambassador on the initiatives taken by the current CTA Administration to revive the Sino-Tibet dialogue and put international pressure and focus on the Tibetan issue.

Ambassador Hussain thanked the Representative for the update and reaffirmed continued support for religious freedom inside Tibet. He further expressed his desire to work closely with the Office of Tibet and to meet His Holiness the Dalai Lama in the future.

Former Ambassador Samual Brownback visited Dharamshala and met with His Holiness the Dalai Lama and senior Tibetan officials in October 2019.

The Representative thanked the Ambassador for his support and looks forward to continuing working with them.
