Honorable President Dr. Lobsang Sangay Meets Senators and Prominent Leaders in Washington, D.C.

 

Washington DC. May 23, 2017: Honorable President of Central Tibetan Administration Dr. Lobsang Sangay met with Senator Mike Lee of Utah and Senator Orrin Hatch of Utah, President pro tempore and the most senior Republican Senator, in the morning at the capitol building. He has briefed them on all ranges of issues relating to Tibet including the current situation in Tibet and Sino-Tibetan dialogue. The senators have expressed their high regard for His Holiness the Dalai Lama and showed grave concern on the current situation inside Tibet and promised to extend all possible support.

He was then driven to Radio Free Asia for an hour interview, and in the afternoon, he has met with other prominent leaders in Washington DC with whom he had very fruitful deliberation and discussions.

In the evening, International Campaign for Tibet hosted a dinner reception in honor of the president which is attended by more than one hundred Tibetans and Tibet supporters including personalities like congressman Jim McGovern and Mr. Harper, former US ambassador to UN.

He is accompanied by Mr. Penpa Tsering, Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Washington DC. This is his first visit to DC during this new US administration and new Kashag.
