Washington DC: As per the invitation of the 16th executive board members of the New York & New Jersey Tibetan Association, the Secretary of Office of Tibet, Washington DC, Mr. Tashi Dhondup, on behalf of the Representative Ngodup Tsering, attended and witnessed the handing and taking over ceremony between the 16th and the 17th executive board members of the New York & New Jersey Tibetan Association on Saturday 25 July 2020.
The new 17th executive board members consist of 13 members who were recently elected by the Tibetan community in New York & New Jersey. There are 5 women members being elected this time and among them is a very young and dedicated woman named Tsering Dechen. After thorough discussions among themselves, they elected Mr. Lhawang Ngodup as the new President and Mr. Yeshe Jigmey as a new Vice-President of the 17th executive board members.
Yesterday, during the oath ceremony, both presidents gave talks, and the chief guest of the ceremony secretary, Secretary Tashi Dhondup, thanked the outgoing members and welcomed the new members. The Secretary applauded the 16th members for their achievement during their 2-year term and thanked them on behalf of the Office of Tibet-DC for the sincere work and efforts, as per the aims and objectives of the organization. The Secretary also extends thanks to the outgoing President, Sonam Gyesher, for his leadership and having a good relationship with the Office of Tibet-DC.
The Secretary welcomed the new board members and stressed the importance of maintaining cordial relationships among the members and work, according to the aims and objectives of the organization, and requested them to maintain a good relationship with the OOT-DC.
The Secretary also requested the NY & NJ Tibetan community members and Tsokpas & Kyiduks members to support the new 17th round executive board members.
Finally, the Secretary spoke about the upcoming Central Tibetan Administration general elections and requested the general public to pay Green Book dues on time and also to pay attention to the extension of the green book validity date.
