Utah Tibetan Association Successfully Conducts Tibet Advocacy Initiative

Washington DC: In accordance with the resolution passed at the North American Tibetan Association’s Conference, which is being implemented across Tibetan communities in North America, the Utah Tibetan Association recently carried out a successful Tibet advocacy initiative.

This week, President of Utah Tibetan Association Lobsang Tsering, former Tibetan MP and Coordinator of the Tibet Advocacy Movement Of the Tibetan Association Pema Chagzoetsang, Deputy Tenzin Choedar, Standing Committee Member Karma Yonten invited an official government delegation comprising US Representative of Utah’s 4th Congressional District Burgess Owens, District Director Casey Saxton, and Constituent Affairs Manager Zack Hodgson at the community hall of the Tibetan Association. The government delegation were apprised of the critical situation inside Tibet and urged to extend their support to the Tibet cause, especially the historically significant bill on Tibet cause (H. R. 533 Promoting a Resolution to the Tibet-China Conflict Act). The delegation considered the request seriously and gave vocal assurance of their support.

As per the request of President Lobsang Tsering to the US Representative and his colleagues, two days later, the office of the US Representative reached out to Pema Chagzoetsang and informed her about the Representative’s signing of the bill on Tibet.

Representative Dr Namgyal Choedup lauded the Utah Tibetan Association for its successful advocacy and expressed hope that other Tibetan communities could make similar impactful advocacy initiatives.
