Dharamshala: Sikyong Penpa Tsering, the political leader of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), has offered his heartfelt congratulations to His Excellency Donald J. Trump on his inauguration as the 47th President of the United States and to Honourable Marco Rubio on his appointment as the U.S. Secretary of State.
In his congratulatory message to President Trump, Sikyong expressed admiration for his leadership in addressing global challenges and defending democratic values. He hoped that under President Trump’s guidance, the United States would continue to serve as a beacon of freedom and democracy on the world stage.
Sikyong acknowledged the longstanding support the Tibetan cause has received from successive U.S. administrations, emphasising the strong and enduring partnership between the U.S. and Tibet. He expressed gratitude for the U.S.’s unwavering commitment to the Tibetan people, which has bolstered their resolve and given them hope despite significant challenges.
Sikyong further thanked President Trump for strengthening support for Tibet and Tibetans with the signing of the Tibet Policy and Support Act of 2020 during his first presidency.
Similarly, Sikyong extended warm congratulations to Secretary Marco Rubio on his new role, recognising his steadfast advocacy for the Tibetan cause and deep understanding of the Sino-Tibet conflict during his distinguished tenure in the U.S. Congress. Sikyong expressed confidence that Secretary Rubio’s leadership would strengthen U.S. support for Tibet and uphold shared values of freedom, democracy, and human rights.
Sikyong also reaffirmed his eagerness to work closely with both President Trump and Secretary Rubio to further U.S.-Tibet relations, underscoring the critical role of U.S. leadership in championing the rights of the Tibetan people.
He concluded his messages by offering best wishes for success in their respective roles, expressing hope for continued collaboration to advance the shared ideals of freedom, justice, and human rights.
