Sikyong Penpa Tsering Congratulates Japan’s Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi on Her Election Victory

Dharamshala: On behalf of the Central Tibetan Administration and the Tibetan people, Sikyong Penpa Tsering wrote a letter to extend his warm congratulations to Her Excellency Sanae Takaichi on her victory in the recent snap election and the decisive mandate conferred upon her through a supermajority.

In his letter, the Sikyong acknowledged Japan’s longstanding support for the Tibetan people, noting that the Japan Parliamentary Support Group for Tibet stands among the largest and most active parliamentary groups globally dedicated to the Tibetan cause.

Sikyong writes, “We hold your leadership in high regard and deeply admire your forthright advocacy for democratic values, as well as your consistent stance on China. Your statements condemning the continued violations of basic freedoms in Tibet are deeply appreciated.”

Sikyong Penpa Tsering conveyed his confidence that, under Prime Minister Takaichi’s leadership, the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Japan and the Tibetan people will continue to grow deepen and strengthen in the years ahead.
