New Delhi, 23 August 2026: Sikyong Penpa Tsering of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) addressed a high-level celebratory dinner reception at The Leela Palace, New Delhi, held in honour of Dr. Swapan Dasgupta following his appointment as the Honourable Finance Minister of West Bengal.
Addressing the distinguished gathering, Sikyong Penpa Tsering extended his warm congratulations to Dr. Dasgupta and expressed his appreciation for his dedicated public service and new leadership role. He also underscored the importance of continued engagement, dialogue, and collaboration on areas of mutual interest.
During the reception, Sikyong personally congratulated Dr. Dasgupta with white scarf and photo of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and also interacted with several senior Indian government dignitaries, including Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Minister of Finance; and Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas. The interactions provided an opportunity to foster goodwill and further strengthen high-level ties and engagement.
A Padma Bhushan awardee, former journalist, and political analyst, Dr. Swapan Dasgupta assumed office as Finance Minister of West Bengal on 10 June 2026. He is currently visiting India’s capital to participate as a speaker at Business Today’s India@100 Economy Summit and to engage in public discussions on West Bengal’s economic growth and industrial roadmap.
