Acting USAID Administrator John Barsa says Americans find huge inspiration in the values promoted by His Holiness the Dalai Lama

Dharamshala: The USAID Acting Administrator John Barsa greeted His Holiness the Dalai Lama on the auspicious occasion of his 85th birthday.

In a letter addressed to His Holiness, Mr. Barsa glorified His Holiness’ commitment towards nonviolence, tolerance, and most significantly his efforts toward advocating and advancing religious freedom and human rights.

He said that the values promoted by His Holiness continue to be a huge inspiration for the American people.

“Those are values USAID promotes throughout the world each and every day through our work to recognize the dignity of the human person, uplift lives, respect life itself, and protect the world’s most vulnerable. For the last 20 years, USAID has supported Tibetan communities in and around the Tibetan Autonomous Region, as well as in the Republic of India and the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal.

We work to preserve Tibetan culture and language, empower the Central Tibetan Administration, and sustain the health, education, and livelihoods of Tibetan communities.

Since the emergence of COVID-19, USAID has also helped to ensure these communities receive the resources they need to protect themselves from the disease. USAID shares your aspirations for a brighter, more self-reliant future for all Tibetans. Today, we honor your leadership and express our gratitude for all that you do to advance your vision of peace and justice. I wish you all the best in the year ahead” he added.

USAID is a US governmental aid organisation that leads international development and humanitarian efforts, advancing democratic societies and strengthening their self-reliance and resilience. It is also one of the primary donors of CTA’s developmental projects.
