New Delhi, 24 August 2026: Sikyong Penpa Tsering of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) met Her Excellency Dr. Eliska Zigova, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to India, at the Embassy of the Czech Republic today, on the occasion of the completion of her tenure as Ambassador to India.
The meeting lasted for about an hour and focused primarily on the current Sinicisation practices of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) in Tibet, including the introduction of the “Promoting Ethnic Unity and Progress Law” and its grave implications for the preservation of Tibetan identity. They also discussed the shifting global balance of power, the current situation of the Tibetan people, and the CTA’s continued commitment to the Middle Way Approach, which seeks a peaceful resolution of the Tibet cause through dialogue and genuine autonomy for the Tibetan people. As a token of appreciation for Her Excellency’s long-standing support and warm engagement with the Tibetan community, Sikyong presented her with a traditional white scarf and a Green Tara thangka.
Her Excellency reaffirmed her commitment to supporting the Tibetan people and the CTA in their continued efforts to uphold the values of peace, dialogue, democracy and human rights. Sikyong conveyed his best wishes to Her Excellency for her future endeavours and expressed his appreciation for her long-standing support and engagement with the Tibetan community.
The farewell meeting was accompanied by Representative Jigme Tsering, Secretary Tashi Dekyi, and Protocol Officer Tenzin Passang from the Bureau of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in New Delhi. The meeting concluded on a cordial note, with both sides expressing hope that the close relations and mutual understanding between the Czech Republic and the Tibetan people would continue in the future.
