Washington DC: On 23 April, representatives from the Office of Tibet in Washington, DC took part in the 19th Roll Call of Nations Wreath-Laying Ceremony organised by the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation (VOC).
The event brought together representatives from 17 government offices, representatives from the European Union’s office in the United States and Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office; Chinese Liaison Officer Tsultrim Gyatso from the Office of Tibet. They were joined by 40 non-governmental organizations, all participating in the wreath-laying ceremony to express solidarity with the victims of communism.
Among the speakers at the gathering were President of VOC, Dr. Eric Patterson, former US Ambassador-at-Large for International Religious Freedom Sam Brownback, and US Congressman Joe Wilson, each of whom addressed the audience in support of the cause.
During the 19th Annual Roll Call of Nations Wreath-Laying Ceremony, the Viet American Foundation was honored with this year’s Flame of Liberty Award in recognition of its contributions.
