Washington DC: Representative Ngodup Tsering and Tenzin Tsepak, Tibetan Liaison Officer, Office of Tibet visited Tibetan Association of Boston and Amherst where they were warmly welcomed by the board members on their arrival. The Representative addressed the Tibetan Community of Boston on 5th October and Tibetan Community of Amherst on 6th October.
In his address to the large gathering of Tibetans in Amherst, The Representative expressed utter delight to witness amicable resolution of the differences among the Tibetan Community in Amherst pervading for more than a decade and said that this is a real offering to His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
The Office of Tibet welcomes and congratulates the Tibetan Community of Amherst for resolving long standing internal differences, which has prevented them from working together for common good. The Tibetan community of Amherst, which got divided into three groups, has now unanimously resolved to be united under one Tibetan Association heeding advice from Office of Tibet. It is certainly a big win for our community and a clear demonstration of great understanding by the Tibetan community in the larger interest of Tibetan cause.
A Nine-member committee representing all three groups was constituted to draft a charter for the Tibetan Community by November this year and will be discussed threadbare in the community and present it before the Office of Tibet for approval. The new board will take office by 1st Jan 2019.
The group Leaders and the general public expressed delight and satisfaction at the new positive development and have committed themselves to see it through and live up to His Holiness’s expectation, as during one of his visit His Holiness hailed Amherst Tibetan Community as a small hearth with big fire.
During the Representative’s visits in the two cities, he spoke on the current US government’s continuing support to the Tibet issue, 5/50 vision of CTA, importance of transmitting Tibetan language and culture to the younger generation, and kindness and Gratitude of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
