Washington DC: Representative Namgyal Choedup and Office of Tibet (OoT) staff attended the 32nd anniversary of the Nobel Peace Prize day celebration organised by Capital Area Tibetan Association (CATA) on Saturday December 18, 2021.
Representatives spoke about how today’s event should serve as a reminder about the contribution and effort of His Holiness the Dalai Lama towards a better and more peaceful world in general and reiterated the current Kashag’s firm commitment to the Middle Way Approach to resolve the Tibetan issues. He urged Tibetan People in North America, especially youth, to participate in the V-TAG (Voluntary Tibet Advocacy Group) program initiated by the CTA. He also urged the public to read the statement of Kashag and the Tibetan Parliament and work together in achieving the ultimate objective to restore freedom for Tibetans living in Tibet.
Representative thanked the US government, especially 60 lawmakers who sent a letter to Under Secretary Uzra Zeya on December 14, 2021 under the assumption that she will be the next US special coordinator for Tibetan issues.
Trisur Kungoe Tenzin Namgyal Tenthong, ICT interim President Bhuchung Tsering, CATA Vice President Tenzin Jigme and Tenzin Tsedup, all spoke about His Holiness’s four principles of commitment and SEE learning.
Trisur Kungoe Tenzin Namgyal Tenthong urges all to read books composed by His Holiness like My Land and My People, Ancient Wisdom Modern World (Ethics for new Millenium) etc., to know deeply about His Holiness’ thoughts. He further stated that implementing His teachings in our daily lives is more important than just reciting and being in the habit of keeping holy scriptures on the altar, which has now become outdated.
ICT Bhuchung urges Tibetans in diaspora must try to spread as much as possible the teachings of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to the Tibetans inside Tibet in order to mitigate the Chinese government from continuous spreading disinformation about His Holiness and His relations with Tibetans people living inside Tibet; and between Tibetans living inside and outside Tibet.
The event was followed by a Nobel Peace Prize song presented by CATA Weekend School students, a quiz on the Nobel Peace Prize. Finally, the event concluded with remarks and a thank you note from the CATA President Tenzin Bhashee.
Representative Namgyal Choedup also attended Nobel Peace Prize day celebration as a chief guest organised by the New York and New Jersey Tibetan Association on December 11, 2021 and delivered a speech and read the Kashag’s statement.
