Taipei: A group of Tibetan delegation from the Central Tibetan Administration, consisting of Deputy Speaker Dolma Tsering Teykhang, Kalon (Minister) Norzin Dolma, Tibetan Parliamentarians Ven. Tenpa Yarphel and Tashi Dhondup, and Secretary Karma Choeying, officially visited Taiwan to attend the swearing in ceremony of the new President of Taiwan, Lai Ching-te, and the Taiwanese parliamentary group for Tibet’s re-establishment event.
On 16 May 2024, Deputy Speaker Dolma Tsering Teykhang, accompanied by Tibetan Parliamentarians Ven. Tenpa Yarphel and Tashi Dhondup of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile received a warm welcome reception from Representative Kelsang Gyaltsen Bawa, Office of Tibet-Taiwan; Tashi Tsering, executive member of the Human Rights Network for Tibet and Taiwan; President and Vice President of the Taiwan Tibetan Welfare Association; and President of the Regional Tibetan Youth Congress.
Later that evening, the Tibetan Parliamentarians attended a dinner reception hosted by the Association for Permanent Peace in Taiwan’s Director Chen Ming-Huang and its Secretary.
On 17 May 2024, Kalon Norzin Dolma and Secretary Karma Choeying of the Department of Information and International Relations, were accorded with a warm welcome reception from the Office of Tibet’s Representative Bawa Kelsang Gyaltsen and Secretary Mingyur Youdon, along with Tashi Tsering, executive member of the Human Rights Network for Tibet and Taiwan, the President and Vice President of the Taiwan Tibetan Welfare Association, and President of the Regional Tibetan Youth Congress.
Deputy Speaker Dolma Tsering Teykhang, Kalon Norzin Dolma, and Zeekyab Rinpoche, the abbot of Tashi Lhunpo monastery, addressed a press conference hosted by the Human Rights Network for Taiwan and Tibet that afternoon. The conference commemorated the 29th anniversary of the enforced disappearances of the 11th Panchen Lama. Tibetan Parliamentarians Ven. Tenpa Yarphel and Tashi Dhondup, DIIR Secretary Karma Choeying, and Representative Bawa Kelsang Gyaltsen also attended the event.
On 18 May 2024, the Tibetan delegations virtually attended His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s teaching on Sixth Armed Mahakala’s blessing on the morning at Buddhist Arts and Culture Institution in Taipei, Taiwan.
On the same day, Deputy Speaker Dolma Tsering Teykhang, Kalon Norzin Dolma, and Tibetan Parliamentarians Ven. Tenpa Yarphel and Tashi Dhondup addressed the “Tashi Delek Taiwan” event organised by the Human Rights Network for Tibet and Taiwan in Taipei. Taiwanese legislator Hung Sun-han and Prof. Wu Hao-ren, as representatives of the Taiwan Parliament group for Tibet and the Human Rights Network for Tibet and Taiwan, respectively, addressed the gathering. The event was also participated by DIIR Secretary Karma Choeying and OoT-Taiwan’s Secretary Mingyur Youdon.
On 19 May 2024, the delegations visited the Tibet Religious Foundation of His Holiness the Dalai Lama (OoT-Taiwan), where they interacted with Representative Bawa Kelsang Gyaltsen and Philosophy Teacher Ven. Tenzin Namdrol Rinpoche, and had an official meeting with high-level officials of the government of Taiwan in the evening. The lawmaker, Hung Sun-han, Vice Chair of the Taiwanese parliamentary group for Tibet, hosted a dinner reception for the visiting CTA delegation.
On 20 May 2024, the CTA delegations from Dharamshala and Representative Kelsang Gylatsen Bawa attended the inaugural celebrations for the 16th term President and Vice President of Taiwan. Thereafter, the team attended re-establishment ceremony of the 11th Taiwanese Parliamentary Group for Tibet in Taipei. The latter event was also graced by the presence of representatives from the Taiwan immigration office, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of Culture.
