Dharamshala: Sikyong Penpa Tsering, on behalf of the Central Tibetan Administration and the Tibetan people, extended heartfelt congratulations to Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi on her assumption of office as the Prime Minister of Japan. Sikyong commended her historic achievement as Japan’s first female Prime Minister.
In his message, Sikyong Penpa Tsering acknowledged the late Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s enduring support for the Tibetan cause and praised Prime Minister Takaichi’s continued commitment in deepening the Japan-Tibet relationship. Sikyong wrote, “Your forthright statements condemning the violations of basic freedoms in Tibet and your continued calls for upholding the rights of Tibetans reflect your exemplary moral courage. Your support also contributed significantly to the success of the 9th World Parliamentarians’ Convention on Tibet held in Japan this year, for which we remain deeply grateful.”
“The Japan Parliamentary Support Group for Tibet stands among the largest and most active in the world, embodying the deep compassion and moral conviction of Japanese legislators across party lines. Such solidarity continues to sustain the resilience of the Tibetan people and strengthen our democratic institutions in exile.”
“As you lead Japan into a new era, we remain confident that under your guidance, the friendship between Japan and Tibet will further deepen, and that Japan will continue to stand with Tibet and extend its support,” Sikyong wrote.
With prayers, Sikyong concluded the congratulatory letter with best wishes for her continued success.
