Ocean of Wisdom School Receives Charter Approval from Minnesota Department of Education

Minnesota: Ocean of Wisdom School (OWS) has received official charter approval from the Minnesota Department of Education, marking a pivotal moment for the new institution. The charter, granted to Novation Education Opportunities (NEO), allows OWS to launch a unique public charter school that will serve students in grades K-8.

The school will offer a tuition-free education that integrates Social, Emotional, and Ethical Learning (SEE Learning) with Tibetan language courses. This approach aims to foster students’ academic, emotional, and ethical growth in a nurturing environment. Emory University’s SEE Learning program will be a cornerstone of the curriculum, promoting values of compassion, respect, and integrity.

In its press release, OWS expressed gratitude to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama for blessing and naming the school, as well as to Sikyong Penpa Tsering and the Office of Tibet in Washington, D.C., for their steadfast support. Likewise, the board members of OWS expressed their appreciation to NEO and Designs for Learning for their expertise and diligent work on the application process.

The school is set to open in Fall 2025, starting with grades K-4 and expanding to K-8. Further details will be available on the school’s website.
