Washington DC, June 16, 2017: His Holiness, the 14th Dalai Lama, gave a public talk at the University of California, San Diego today morning where he spoke about “Embracing the Beauty of Diversity in our World” to an estimated 25,000 attendees on the university campus’s RIMAC Field.
Before he was escorted to the venue of the talk, he was received by Mayor of San Diego Kevin Faulconer, Mr Pradeep Khosla, Chancellor of the University of California San Diego and other dignitaries at the campus followed by interaction with the members of the media.
His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama Tenzin Gyatso is introduced by the city mayor and TV journalist Ann Curry before taking the stage. The public talk, was focused on love, kindness and compassion among humanity. He also spoke about mental health and education. He emphasized the significance of education and said that he is coming up with a curriculum to teach secular ethics in our education system.
Tomorrow, His Holiness will deliver the keynote address to the graduating student at the university commencement ceremony. His talk is titled, “The Value of Education, Ethics and Compassion for the Well-Being of Self and Others”
