European Human Rights Ambassadors’ Call Rejects External Interference in His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s Succession

Brussels, 06 July 2025: In a joint statement issued by the Human Rights Ambassadors of seven European countries namely France, Germany, the Netherlands, UK, Lithuania, Estonia and Iceland address concerns surrounding the reincarnation of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and rejecting any external interference.

This joint statement represents a clear and coordinated stance in support of religious freedom of the Tibetan people and Tibetan Buddhists worldwide in choosing their spiritual leaders.

This reaffirms European commitment to human rights and freedom of belief.
