Washington DC: The 17th North American Tibetan Association Conference successfully concluded on 3 September in Minneapolis, MN. It was organised by the Office of Tibet, Washington, DC with the support from Tibetan American Foundation of Minnesota.
Representative Ngodup Tsering, Office of Tibet, DC chaired the three-day Conference, which is attended by representatives from 21 Tibetan Association in North America.
Kalon for Religion and culture Karma Gelek Yuthok, Chief Guest and representative of Kashag graced the inaugural with his presence. In his inaugural address, he urged Tibetans to make offering for His Holiness’ the Dalai Lama’s long life and support Middle way Approach, which calls for unity among the Tibetans from all the three traditional provinces.
The conference adopted 37-point resolution pledging for unity among Tibetans and making offering for His Holiness’ Dalai Lama’s long life; assisting Central Tibetan Administration for its financial Stability; improving administrative structure and functioning of Tibetan Associations; strengthening Tibet Advocacy base and preservation of Tibetan Language and culture.
Members of Tibetan Parliament from North America Pema Chagzoetsang and Tsewang Rigzin, ICT’s Director of Outreach Tencho Gyatso, Secretary of Office of Tibet (OOT) Tsering Tashi and Tibetan Liaison Officer OOT Tenzin Tsepak attended the three-day conference along with 48 participants.
Tibetan Association of Northern California has volunteered to host the Next NATA conference in San Francisco in 2019.
