Sikyong Penpa Tsering of the Central Tibetan Administration arrived in Wisconsin on Friday following his official engagements in Washington.
He met and interacted with the Tibetan community there about the key commitments of the 16th Kashag and meanwhile answered queries and clarified doubts of the general public.
Sikyong updated them about the advocacy and welfare initiatives implemented by his administration such as setting up a Permanent Strategy Committee in replacement of the Task Force on Sino-Tibetan Negotiations established in 1998. Similarly, the administration’s endeavours in strengthening international advocacy campaigns through the establishment of V-TAG. He also gave a detailed account of the amendments made to CTA staff guidelines, rules and regulations, employment benefits, and the subsequent plans of the Kashag to alleviate welfare dilemmas of Tibetans in exile regarding housing challenges faced by some.
Liaison Officer Kunga Tashi informed the gathering of the purpose of Sikyong’s visit this time.
Sikyong’s arrival in Chicago airport was received by heads and representatives of Chicago and Wisconsin Tibetan Associations including representatives from Hrithak Gatseling monastery. Tomorrow, Sikyong is scheduled to visit the monastery ( deer park) followed by an interaction with the Tibetan youths.
