Sikyong Penpa Tsering Engages with U.S. Think Tank Experts and Addresses the National Press Club in Washington D.C.

Washington D.C: On 28 October 2025 (EDT), Sikyong Penpa Tsering began his day with an interview with James Himberger, Managing Editor of The National Interest, at the Office of Tibet, Washington, D.C. Following this, Sikyong held a substantive discussion with a group of distinguished researchers from a Washington-based think tank specialising in China.

The exchange focused on recent developments related to China and its engagement with the international community, particularly in the areas of trade, economy, and rare earth elements. Representative Namgyal Choedup, Tsultrim Gyatso, Chinese Liaison Officer at the Office of Tibet, and Tsejin from the International Campaign for Tibet joined the meeting alongside the experts.

The following day, Sikyong addressed the National Press Club Headliner Newsmaker Event in Washington, D.C., where he engaged with the audience on a range of issues, including the situation in Tibet, the expansionist policies of the People’s Republic of China, and the enduring nonviolent resilience of the Tibetan people. Despite the government shutdown and the unusually empty streets of Capitol Hill, Sikyong’s team is actively engaging with Senate staffers working on issues related to Tibet.
