Continuing her official engagements, Kalon Gyari Dolma traveled to Washington, D.C. on 12 August, where she was welcomed by staff from the Office of Tibet and members of the Tibetan Association of the region.
During her visit, Kalon met with several dignitaries and prominent individuals across New York, New Jersey, and Washington, D.C. on 11 and 13 August, holding discussions on key matters concerning Tibet. Her itinerary also included meetings with senior leadership and staff of the International Campaign for Tibet (ICT).
Earlier, on 10 August, Kalon Gyari Dolma participated as a special guest at the Ghoton celebration hosted by the Palden Drepung Tashi Gomang Monastic University, as well as the opening ceremony of Gomang Monastery’s Dharma Center in New York.
On 15 August, she was invited to the opening ceremony of the Special Conference of Dokham Chushi Gangdruk, jointly organised by the six regional Dokham Chushi Gangdruk chapters in North America and the Central Dokham Chushi Gangdruk.
In her keynote address, Security Kalon highlighted the deep gratitude Tibetans hold for the governments of India and the United States for their enduring support. She further stressed the importance of unity among Tibetans and the collective pursuit of the freedom movement.
“Despite our trivial differences in our democratic society, our actions must never hurt the common cause,” she underscored.
On 16 August, Kalon Gyari Dolma attended a prayer gathering organised by the Tibetan Community of New York and New Jersey. This prayer gathering was held in line with a directive from the Department of Religion and Culture, Central Tibetan Administration, and was dedicated to the well-being and longevity of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and a swift resolution to the Tibet-China conflict.
In her brief remarks, the Kalon informed attendees that His Holiness the Dalai Lama is in good health and currently residing in Ladakh.
“We are extremely grateful to have His Holiness as our leader and we must uphold and follow his teachings and leadership to prevail from all obstructions,” she said.
In appreciation of her presence, the President of the Tibetan Community of New York and New Jersey presented her with a khatag and souvenir.
Earlier that day, Kalon Dolma Gyari also met with the executive members of the regional chapter of the Global Tibetan People’s Movement for Middle Way Approach, as well as Bob Ankerson, President of The Tibet Fund, and former Representative Rinchen Dharlo, a board member of the Fund.
Concluding her visit, Security Kalon Gyari Dolma, accompanied by her personal secretary Chime Tashi, departed for Delhi from John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK).
