Central Tibetan Administration Welcomes the US Adoption of the ‘Resolve Tibet Act’

Dharamshala: On Wednesday, 17 July 2024, the Speaker of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile Khenpo Sonam Tenphel, Officiating Sikyong Dolma Gyari, Members of the Standing Committee of Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, Secretaries and the staff of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) gathered in the Sikyong Hall to show gratitude to the people and the Govt. of the United States for adopting the ‘Promoting a Resolution to the Tibet-China Dispute Act’ also known as the ‘Resolve Tibet Act’ into law.

Cabinet Secretary Tsegyal Chukya Dranyi expressed gratitude to all the individuals and organisations involved in enacting this law. DIIR Secretary Karma Choeying highlighted the significance of the law in countering the Chinese Government’s disinformation and false narrative on Tibet.

Officiating Sikyong Dolma Gyari stated that while the Tibetan community everywhere are expressing joy over this significant landmark, Tibetans are deeply saddened by the Chinese government’s increasing repression of their identity in Tibet. The Officiating Sikyong condemned the recent closure of one of the highly reputed Tibetan private schools in Tibet under the order of the Chinese government.

The Officiating Sikyong said this legislation strengthens the United States’ dedication to advancing the Tibetan people’s aspirations for self-governance and human rights.
