The US Special Coordinator of Tibetan Issues, Uzra Zeya attended the celebration of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 88th birthday last Thursday organised by the Office of Tibet in Washington. On the same day, the Tibetan associations of Charlottesville, Massachusetts, and Minnesota also commemorated the event which was also attended by several US officials led staff and Tibet supporters.
Congressman Jim McGovern led Representative Lindsay Sabadosa, Rep. Daniel Carey and Rep. Kristen Elechko attended the celebration in Massachusetts. The list of delegates also consisted of Maura Healey ( Governor of Massachusetts), Nicole LaChapelle (Mayor of Easthampton, Massachusetts) and Lynn Griesemer (President of Amherst Town Council).
The celebration in Minnesota was attended by Representative Sandra Fiest, Anoka County Commissioner Mandy Meisner, Professor Norman Piatti, Professor Miriam Cameron, Michael Ormand, former senior CTA officials, and former Tibetan Parliamentarians.
The official guests at the event unitedly praised His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s approach to compassion and world peace. They appreciated the Tibetan people’s struggle for truth and non-violence and meanwhile assured their support in the preservation of Tibetan national identity.
