Washington DC, May 24: The second day of the President of Central Tibetan Administration Dr. Lobsang Sangay’s visit in DC was packed with meetings at the Capitol Hill, media interviews and other engagements. In the morning he gave hour-long live interview at VOA studio, followed by in-depth discussions and interaction with the scholars at the American Enterprise Institute, a public policy think tank dedicated to defending human dignity.
He later had meetings with senior lawmakers Leader Nancy Pelosi, Rep. Jim McGovern, Rep. Eliot Engel and Rep. Joyce Beatty at the Leaders’ office where he presented an eight-point fresh appeal to which the lawmakers gave sympathetic hearing and pledged all the support at their disposal.
At the Heritage Foundation, an influential think tank to the new US administration, he spoke on “One China Policy and Middle Way Approach of the Tibetan People,” which was attended by more than fifty scholars and intellectuals. The day program concluded with the dinner reception by Capital Area Tibetan Association in honor of the president.
Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama Mr. Penpa Tsering accompanied the president in all his meeting and engagements.
